The Fed’s interest rate policies to combat inflation since the 1970s

CLC’s team, led by Mr. Andreas Rodopoulos, BSc International And European Studies University of Piraeus, mentored and supervised our students Dimitris Tzoannos, Dimitris Agouridis, Giannis Malavazos, Konstantinos Chatzinikolaou, Konstantinos Pappas, Petros Giotis and Iliana Gkouma-Nikandrou to carry out a research project on the inflation and policies for its combat.

This project aims to examine the diverse historical factors contributing to inflation and the corresponding actions taken by the Federal Reserve. Explores the various metrics employed to gauge inflation and elucidate the difficulties linked to measuring it. Considering its advantages and limitations, it evaluates the pros and cons of employing the Taylor Rule as a framework for determining optimal interest rates.
